Born in Rome in 1972, Marco Barbon lives and works between France and Italy since 2001.
After a Master degree in Philosophy and a PHD in Aesthetics of Photography at the EHESS in Paris, he took his first steps in the world of photography by working for five years in the staff of Magnum Photos. Since 2005 he has devoted himself to an artistic research which explores the photographic image as a border zone between reality and imaginary, document and fiction. The nature of photography as a trace as well as its ability to evoke the hors-champ and to represent the invisible constitute in particular the common thread of his latest works.
Author of the books Asmara Dream (Postcart/ Filigranes, 2009; reissued in 2016), Cronotopie (Trans Photographic Press, 2010), Casablanca (Postcart/ Filigranes, 2011), Les pas perdus (Poursuite, 2014), Asmara (Be-Pôles, 2014), El Bahr (Filigranes, 2016) and The Interzone (Maison CF, 2017), his photographs have been published in the French and international press. His works, frequently shown in galleries and art spaces, are part of several public and private collections.
Marco Barbon’s work is represented by Galerie Clémentine de la Feronnière (Paris) and by Galerie 127 (Marrakech).

Marco Barbon has been the co-founder and art director, from 2016 to 2018, of DES RIVES - Rencontres autour de la Photographie contemporaine. He is also the founder and art director of the trans-media project LE SOLEIL MÊME LA NUIT.

La la photographie comme trace et sa capacité à évoquer le hors-champ et à figurer l’absence constituent en particulier le fil conducteur de ses derniers travaux.
Auteur des livres Asmara Dream (Postcart/Filigranes, 2009 ; réédité en 2016), Cronotopie (Trans Photographic Press, 2010), Casablanca (Postcart/Filigranes, 2011), Les pas perdus (Poursuite, 2014), Asmara (Be-Pôles, 2014), El Bahr (Filigranes, 2016) et The Interzone (Maison CF, 2017), ses œuvres sont régulièrement exposées en France et à l’étranger et font partie d’importantes collections publiques et privées.
Le travail de Marco Barbon est représenté par la Galerie Clémentine de la Feronnière (Paris) et par la Galerie 127 (Marrakech).
